WEB DEVELOPMENT – IMPORTANT TERMS AND CONCEPTS

We will discuss important terms and concepts related to Web Development here.

Web Browser (commonly referred to as a browser)

A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web.

Examples include Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari etc.

All browsers basically has three parts: a rendering engine that renders HTML and CSS, a scripting engine for JavaScript and a set of plugins to extend functionality. Different browsers may share the rendering engine or the scripting engine. For example WebKit is a browser engine used by Safari and Google’s V8 is the engine currently used by Chrome, which was also previously using WebKit.

    HTML 5 Video

Before HTML5, a video could only be played in a browser with a plug-in (like flash). The HTML5 <video> element specifies a standard way to embed a video in a web page.

YouTube had dropped support for flash and has made HTML5 Video as the default. Even Adobe had stopped development on Mobile browser flash to focus on HTML 5, years back.
